How to verify an Expert Tradesperson:
When entrusting an Expert Tradesperson to enter your home and complete a much needed task, it is prudent to verify they are who they say they are. The Island is known for amazing crafts and trades people and as we live within a tight community, most people will often come highly recommended. However it doesnt hurt to check a few things before approving a job to go ahead. We have added 5 tips below to guide you:
- Check their ID
All expert Tradespeople should carry ID with them. Kindly ask them for photo ID and check the picture, name and address details (If a driving license is shown) Just to make sure their details match with the details of the person you are expecting.
- Read reviews
Online reviews can often be used to verify the work an expert Tradesperson has completed. Be mindful that not all reviews are truly reflective or quality. Use the reviews to ask questions to understand previous Jobs and what type of work was completed.
- Take the time to ask them questions
Take the time to ask questions, you never know, you may have a friend or foe in common :) Questions will help you to understand the type of work the expert Tradesperson will be completing and how much time it will take.
- Ask for a referral
If your request requires a big job to be completed, take the time to ask for referrals and speak to them. You will be glad that you did.
A few ideas for questions are:
- Were they happy with the quality of Job?
- Were they easy to talk to?
- Did they explain the work that was needed and the time it would require?
- Did the Trade clean up after themselves?
- Would they recommend them?
- Review their Profile
On My Task List, we will host a verified Profile page for all of our Expert Trades. Please take the time to review a profile, read the reviews and the Expert Trades work history. It all helps to ensure that we are matching the right person with you, for your job.
